Step by step

What happens from
arrival to treatment.

The consultation and treatment happen in the same appointment at Beauty Affairs MediSpa. Here is the full sequence from the moment you arrive.

1
Arrival and intake

You are greeted and asked to complete a short intake form covering current medications, relevant medical history, previous skin treatments, and your main concerns. This is the foundation of the consultation — complete it honestly.

5 minutes
2
Skin assessment with the practitioner

The practitioner examines your skin in treatment areas — checking tissue laxity, skin quality, depth of concern, and overall suitability. They are confirming that Ultraformer MPT is the right treatment for your specific concern and identifying which areas and cartridge depths will be most effective.

10 – 15 minutes
3
Treatment plan and expectations

The practitioner explains which areas will be treated, which cartridge depths they will use and why, the shot count for your session, and what results are realistically achievable for your specific concern. This is when you ask your questions — before any treatment begins.

5 – 10 minutes
4
Contraindication confirmation

The practitioner reviews any items from your intake form that may affect suitability — current medications, recent treatments, or medical history. If there are any contraindications, treatment is postponed until they are resolved. This is a clinical safeguard, not a commercial one.

5
Treatment preparation

Once suitability is confirmed, the treatment area is cleansed and a coupling gel applied. Topical anaesthetic may be offered depending on your sensitivity and the areas being treated. The Ultraformer MPT handpiece is applied and the session begins.

5 minutes prep
6
Treatment and aftercare guidance

Treatment takes 30–90 minutes depending on scope. Afterwards, the practitioner provides written aftercare instructions and explains the results timeline — 2–6 months for collagen remodelling to complete. You leave with a clear picture of what to expect.

What the practitioner assesses

The clinical assessment —
what they are looking at.

Understanding what the practitioner is assessing helps you prepare relevant information and ask better questions. The assessment is clinical — it determines your specific treatment protocol, not just whether you are suitable.

Skin and tissue assessment
Degree of skin laxity in treatment areas
Skin thickness and texture
Tissue depth at each zone (face, neck, décolletage)
Quality and elasticity of the SMAS layer
Previous treatment effects visible in the tissue
Bone structure and facial anatomy relevant to cartridge depth selection
Medical and treatment history
Current medications — especially retinoids, blood thinners, immunosuppressants
Recent skin treatments in the area (fillers, toxin, laser, RF)
History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring
Surgical history in the face or neck
Metal implants or electronic devices in treatment areas
Pregnancy or breastfeeding status
Questions to ask

Six questions to ask
at your consultation.

1
How many shots will my session include and which areas?

The most important question. The shot count defines the scope of your treatment. Get a specific number — not "full face" without a shot count attached.

2
Which cartridge depths will you use and why?

Different depths target different layers. A practitioner who explains their depth selection for your specific anatomy is demonstrating clinical depth — not just following a standard protocol.

3
What results are realistic for my specific concern?

Results depend on your skin, age, lifestyle, and the degree of laxity. A practitioner who gives you an honest, specific answer rather than broad promises is the one to trust.

4
When will I see results and what does the timeline look like?

Collagen remodelling takes 2–6 months. Immediate visible lifting is normal — but the full result develops gradually. Ask your practitioner what to expect at 4 weeks, 3 months, and 6 months.

5
What aftercare should I follow and for how long?

Ask specifically about sun exposure, skincare products, exercise, and any treatments to avoid post-session. Written aftercare is a sign of a thorough provider.

6
Based on what you can see today, would you recommend one session or a course?

This question invites the practitioner's honest clinical opinion. A practitioner who tells you one session is sufficient is more trustworthy than one who immediately recommends a course of three for every client.

Contraindications

What affects suitability —
and what to disclose.

These are the main factors the practitioner will review at consultation. Disclosing all relevant history is in your interest — contraindications exist to protect outcomes, not to exclude clients unnecessarily.

Treatment not appropriate if:
Pregnancy or breastfeeding
Active skin infection or open wounds in treatment area
Metal implants or electronic devices in face/neck (pacemaker, cochlear implant)
Severe cystic acne in treatment area
Active herpes outbreak in treatment area
Recent (within 2 weeks) surgical procedure in area
Discuss with practitioner — timing may be adjusted:
Recent filler (typically wait 2–4 weeks)
Recent anti-wrinkle injections (typically wait 2 weeks)
Current retinoid use — may require a short pause
Blood thinning medications — disclose, not necessarily a contraindication
History of keloid scarring — discuss approach
Recent laser or RF treatment in same area

If you are unsure whether something in your history is relevant, disclose it anyway. The practitioner will advise. The consultation exists precisely to have this conversation.

Common questions

What people ask about
the consultation.

Can the consultation and treatment happen on the same day?+
Yes. At Beauty Affairs MediSpa, the consultation and treatment happen in the same appointment. The consultation comes first, confirms suitability and treatment plan, and treatment proceeds immediately after if appropriate. There is no need to book a separate consultation visit.
What if the consultation finds I'm not suitable for Ultraformer MPT?+
If a contraindication is identified at consultation, treatment will be postponed until it is resolved — or the practitioner may recommend a different treatment better suited to your concern. Via GlowRef, the consultation is included in the A$99 referred session cost. If treatment cannot proceed that day, the team will advise on next steps.
Do I need to arrive with clean skin?+
It is helpful but not essential. The practitioner will cleanse the treatment area before the session begins. If you are wearing heavy foundation or SPF, arriving with clean skin saves time. Light makeup is fine to arrive in.
Should I stop any skincare products before the consultation?+
Retinoids (retinol, tretinoin) are typically paused 3–5 days before treatment. Do not stop other products without guidance — the practitioner will advise at consultation based on your specific routine. Do not stop prescription medications without consulting your doctor first.
Is the consultation included in the A$99 GlowRef first session?+
Yes. The GlowRef referred first session at A$99 includes the pre-treatment consultation at no additional charge. There is no separate consultation fee for referred clients. The A$99 is the total out-of-pocket cost for the full appointment.
